Hi all
I wanted to introduce myself and tell you a little bit about me.
My name is Tony and I am the Southern area sales manager and CEO for NRTAUK. My back ground goes way back to when I was 21 and decided to open my first business in cleaning and rubbish clearance. This was something I wanted to do when I left Plumbing and drainage and started this up from scratch. I bought a van and a pick up truck and started to tender for local work. This went quite well and we got a local housing association contract for end of tenancy cleans and void clearances. Unfortunately my marriage come to an end and so did this business and I moved out the area I was living in.
I then went back into plumbing and drainage for many years before going into a sales role selling drainage cameras and locators before moving to HILTI where I became a sales specialist for London Underground and DLR. I then got offered a mangers role for a franchised drainage company and took it. Not long after that I had the opportunity to buy my own franchise for the same network which I had for over 6 years before things went a bit Pete Tong and I ended up going bankrupt. With certain things that happened building up to this I decided that I didn’t want to stay in the drainage or plumbing industry and took it upon my self to learn a completely new trade in surface repairs. I had this business for over 6 years building this up through COVID and the pandemic which was challenging but fun as this taught me a lot about what I know today from learning to build my own websites, taking a level 2 social media course and growing a business from scratch that I previously never even thought about.
Then came 2025 and thinking about politics and what is going to happen to businesses in the UK. This got me and a colleague talking about the future and what do we want to do. We eventually came up with NRTAUK and had many video calls about what can we do to help businesses in the UK not only get through hard times but to grow and connect with each other. This was quite a lot of long conversations and we changed our minds about certain things but, the main objective stayed the same “what can we give businesses?” Fast forward a few months and we built NRTAUK which helps connections, compliance, training, information and more and the more we dive down the rabbit hole the more we will add to what we offer.
